Holidays and such

Life has been a whirl wind lately! I just haven’t had the time to catch up with anything since the holidays… So here’s a quick rundown:

  • Christmas: Spent it with the Plastow side and had a fabulous day relaxing, playing games and just enjoying each other's company
  • New Years: Spent it with the Brown side at the cabin. Mom, Dad, Sheila, Scott and Uncle James and Aunt Rebbecca were there. We spent the time hiking, making and eating tasty food, digging up petrified logs and septarian nodules

I guess I should get into more detail on the rocks. We were able to find huge petrified tree in this secret location in Southern Utah! They were absolutely huge!!! First we had to dig them out, then we tried to wench the biggest one of them out with my Dad's Jeep, but the log was too heavy and it broke pieces off the end. We were quite sad to have to give the biggest ones up, but we did bring home a few of the smaller pieces that are now proudly displayed in our front garden. Check them out the next time you stop by! It was like this, but laying on it's side covered in dirt.

I was not a part of the Septerian Nodule escapade, because Grandma Yoder was teaching us women folk how to make caramels (yum!). But the story went something like this... These manly men relatives of mine were knee deep in snow which started to melt and form a fabulous mud. And did I mention it was on the edge of a cliff that they were perched? So these manly men have picks that they are using to break up the mud and dig for circular rocks. Every time they swung their pick footing would give loose and they would slide down the edge of said cliff. But they were manly enough that they brought some home to prove to use women how much they love us. Then they cut these not quite circular rocks in half so we could see this inside

Although the story might have been embellished a bit, they really are that beautiful!

So ever since I've been playing catch up. Laundry. Dishes. Cleaning the house. Sick husband. Fraud at work. It's just been a mess!!! I'm looking forward to relaxing this weekend. Hopefully it happens!
